The biodiversity labs

Citizen conversation on what we consider biodiversity.

Committed to a vision of protecting and regenerating biodiversity, three laboratories meet to cultivate and weave their relationship: Growing A.R.C.’s garden project is about reconnecting with all beings and drawing attention to the fact that humans are part of nature, not separate from it. Communautique’s échoforêt initiative is an emerging laboratory at Terra Perma, dedicated to the exploration, experimentation and regeneration of biodiversity and digital inclusion. Terra Perma is a community of eco-entrepreneurs.

Growing A.R.C. is a nonprofit that creates spaces and opportunities for people to activate, reciprocate and cultivate their relationships with all beings. Through plants, material culture, and bioregional design, they are engaging in a conversation on sustainability through active participation.

What started as an experiment – tossing some flax seeds into the ground in the backyard, has now led to the creation of a community-oriented nonprofit, that’s using the concept of farm to closet to shift peoples’ mindset on consumption; reinforcing their connection to the local environment and expanding their understanding of biodiversity to include the diversity of human perspectives, and experiences from diverse communities (because while we are trained otherwise, yes – we, humans, are also a part of nature).

Communautique’s mission is to support citizen participation by promoting information literacy, the appropriation of information and communication technologies and contribution to their development. Communautique has been working for 24 years to democratize access to technology in a perspective of economic, cultural and social development. It is a pioneer in the arrival of Living Labs, which it has greatly contributed to making known, as well as in the advent of Fab Labs in Québec. He opened échofab, the first Fab Lab in Canada, co-founded the Coop Fab Labs Québec and is leading the advent of the Fab City movement in Québec.

Terra Perma is a growing residential and eco-entrepreneur permaculture community in the heart of the Laurentians.Bordering the famous Riviere Rouge to the West and located in the Mont-Tremblant region, these 800 acres are a sanctuary with many exciting activities on-site and nearby. Throughout Terra Perma is the Forest Park, a vast 200 acre area managed jointly with the Terra Perma Foundation. Terra Perma’s mandate is to preserve the natural habitat and promote sustainable development.
