Masterclass : Discovery of the field of molding, from prehistory to 3D printing

Join an inspiring conversation about discovering the field of molding, from prehistory to 3D printing, a masterclass from the project « Careers of Tomorrow inspired by the Fab Lab »

This conversation is an invitation to discover the masterclass “Discovering the field of molding, from prehistory to 3D” by Rino Coté, Rino Coté, artistic and digital project manager at échofab, the Fab Lab of Communautique.

Molding is an ancient technique dating back to ancient Egypt. Even today, this method is used in various fields and applications. However, in many cases, creating a mold requires a physical piece previously made by hand or with a machine such as a 3D printer or a CNC machine. Different products can be used to make the mold, or even 3D print the mold. The field of 3D scanning, including 3D printers, scanners, and software, represents an evolution of traditional molding tools. These two worlds complement each other.

After viewing the masterclass, the managers of the project, Marie-Chantale Dion and Aurélie Nguyen, will lead a conversation to enrich the impact of this initiative.

The project « Careers of Tomorrow inspired by the Fab Lab » is the fruit of a collaboration between the First Nations and Inuit Labour Market Advisory Committee and Communautique, with the support of the First Nations Education Council Educational Services and the Tshakapesh Institute. The project is supported by the ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie through the NovaScience program.
